1947-2012 – Roy Wells Bishop was a respected Vancouver printmaker and graphic designer. He attended the Vancouver School of Art and also studied under Walter Dexter and Eldon Underhill at the Kootenay School of Art from 1969-1972. In the late 1970s he worked in education, teaching graphic arts and printmaking at Douglas College and Kootenay School of Art, eventually becoming Art Director of the Creative Advertising Division at Evergreen Press Ltd.
Noted exhibitions include a solo exhibition in December 1972 at the Surrey Art Gallery, as well as exhibitions at a number of Vancouver galleries including the Allen Gallery and the Artists Gallery, both since closed. In February 1972 he was part of a group exhibition as a member of the Deer Lake Printmakers Society at the Avelles Gallery. Bishop was 65 when he died.
