Marion Evamy

“As an experimentalist, I allow mystery and magical moments to appear on the canvas...”

Marion Evamy is an abstract expressionist painter who works in acrylics and mixed media. Her approach and techniques vary, but are usually exaggerated or distorted, and play with bold colours and shapes, often broadly brushed on the canvas or collaged. The titles of songs frequently find a way into her compositions, as well as quirky figures in a fusion of those met or dreamt of. She enjoys experimentation.

Evamy’s interest in art and design was nurtured in childhood by her architect father. She briefly attended art school in the early 1980s and took art courses and workshops in the 1990s but is mostly self-taught. She began working full-time as a painter while in her 40s and maintains a studio and gallery called Red Art Gallery in Sidney, BC. Her work has been exhibited nationally.

“As an experimentalist, I allow mystery and magical moments to appear on the canvas, creating a tapestry of artistic wonders. Influenced by travel, design, music and the vibrant colours of the world, I draw inspiration from far and wide.” Quote from artist’s biography on artist’s website. https://www.marionevamy.com/about

For all you deep art divers out there.

Artist’s website

The Canadian Art Preservation Foundation posts short biographies and information on artists and artwork from its collection in a not-so-subtle attempt to capture your attention and interest in our mission, but we also just want to keep this artwork in view. We are excited about the art we collect and want to share it with you. CAPF is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the artwork of Canada’s superstar artists for future generations to examine, study and exhibit – the ones you know and the ones you might not know so well. We accept artwork, journals, notes, letters, exhibition catalogues and anything else that might comprise a visual and/or intellectual “portrait” (ahem, please pardon the pun) of a particular artist.

We archive, preserve and promote Canadian art.
